Ikhud Leumi list was founded in 1999 as united list of two parties: Tekuma (=Resurrection, founded 2000) and Moledet (=Homeland – Israel-Land Trustees Movement and Thiya [Revival – former right wing party] Veterans. founded 1988).
It was later joined by Zionot Datit Leumit Mithadeshet (Renewal National Religious Zionism) that split from MAFDAL. It had 7 seats in the 16th Knesset.
In 2006 General Elections it ran together with Mafdal Party in a joint list. The two parties, which had together 11 seats in the 16th Knesset and expected to become a major power as the representatives of the anti-evacuation right wing, took a blow and got only 9 seats in 2006 and are in the opposition. Only days will say if this ad-hoc union will continue.
Ihud Leumi is using its logo (flag-like blue background with the inscription Ikhud (orange – top) and Leumi (white – bottom). This logo is also appears in the center of Orange flag. The orange is used as it was the color of the anti-evacuation campaign, which was strongly supported by this party.

Ikhud Leumi was three parties, Tekuma (breakaway from Mafdal), Moledet, and Herut (breakaway from Likud, not to be confused with one of the original components of Likud). In the last election, it ran together with Yisrael Beitenu (semi-breakaway of Likud), and Herut ran on its own then (no seats) and again in this election (with a semi-breakaway of their own). Yisrael Beitenu is also running on its own in this election.
Nathan Lamm, 25 March 2006

At 2009 elections, HaIhud HaLeumi - Tekuma, HaTiqva, Eeretz Yisrael Shelanu, Moledet (The National Union - Revival,  The Hope, Our Israelland, Homeland) used same flag as before but on white background instead of previous orange.
